Energeo Ltd, in partnership with Smart Klub and the Satellite Applications Catapult, have secured funding from Innovate UK to undertake a detailed feasibility study into the potential for a renewable energy and sustainability technology online brokering system. The study will explore how a brokering business model can encourage wider adoption of clean technology and improve relationships between businesses and communities at a local level.

“The way consumers and businesses engage with renewable energy and sustainability needs to be improved” says Ian Dee, CEO of Energeo Ltd. “An online brokering system can provide energy users with clear costs/benefit information for their property for a number of measures, without the need for an often intrusive site visit, and allow them to choose from a wide variety of installers - both Local and National. For the installers themselves, it presents an opportunity to put themselves firmly in the shop window, showcasing their offerings to an already engaged audience whilst generating and responding to enquiries on an automated basis”.

Energeo will be creating a number of individual property level sustainability insights for the study, including solar potential and building heat loss levels, for the project through the innovative exploitation of geospatial Big Data, Open Data and Machine Learning. These outputs will underpin the onward cost/benefit calculation, concept visualisation and iterative trials to be undertaken across a number of UK Cities.

Smart Klub connects cities and suppliers in a way that creates innovative energy projects. Every city, community and project is unique, so Smart Klub use local understanding of the landscape throughout our four phase process – Discovery, Definition, Selection and Delivery – to listen and build what works for each city, place and community.

The team behind SmartKlub provide a wealth of experience in the distributed energy sector. And it’s from their own first-hand experience in the industry that SmartKlub was conceived. They noticed that, despite cities and authorities across the UK looking for alternative ways to meet their unique energy needs in a way that benefits citizens and communities, the market was failing to provide integrated community energy projects.

Initiated by funding from E.ON, and support from Siemens, SmartKlub has been created to meet this need.
